Staco team participates in Human Rights Council sessions
The Sheikh Taher Al-Zawi Charitable Foundation (STACO) team participated in many of the events and meetings held during the 54th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, due to the STACO Foundation obtaining consultative status with the United Nations. The Human Rights Council in Geneva is an international organization operating under the umbrella of the United Nations. It was established in 2006 to be the main body of the United Nations responsible for human rights issues worldwide. The Council includes 47 member states elected by the United Nations General Assembly.
The Human Rights Council is an important forum for discussing and addressing global human rights issues, as it carries out a wide range of tasks and functions. Among these tasks, the Council examines the human rights situations in member states, provides recommendations and directives to enhance human rights protection, investigates human rights violations, provides technical assistance to states, and promotes awareness of human rights issues.
The Council’s sessions are held at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, and last for three annual sessions, lasting about three weeks for each session. Representatives of member states, non-governmental organizations, UN institutions, and independent experts participate in these sessions.
The Human Rights Council is an important body in the global human rights system, and plays a major role in promoting and protecting human rights around the world.
