Zawiya City, Libya January 4, 2026

In a strategic move aimed at enhancing civil peace and empowering community leaders, the Human Resources Development and Training Department at the Sheikh Tahir Al-Zawi Charity Organization (STACO) launched its pioneering community initiative this Sunday morning: the “National Project for Training Neighborhood Mukhtars and Municipal Social Councils.”

This initiative stems from the Organizations’s vision regarding the importance of investing in human capital, recognizing that Neighborhood Mukhtars (local community leaders) and Social Council members serve as the first line of defense in preserving the social fabric and resolving issues within local communities.

Launch from Zawiya West Municipality:

The Foundation selected the Zawiya West Municipality as the starting point for this national project. The municipality’s training hall hosted the first day’s activities amidst a welcoming atmosphere and fruitful cooperation from the Municipal Council. The event was organized through direct and effective coordination with the Zawiya West Municipal Council, reflecting the integrated efforts between civil society organizations and local authorities.

The training session saw the significant participation of 17 Neighborhood Mukhtars from various districts within the municipality, reflecting a genuine desire among local leaders to develop their skills and leadership tools.

Training Themes:

Specialized Skills for a Changing Reality Designed by the Foundation’s Training Department, the program focused on providing participants with modern practical and scientific tools under the title: “The Art of Negotiation, Influence Strategies, and Local Conflict Resolution Mechanisms.”

The training included specialized modules aimed at:

Equipping participants with advanced negotiation skills to deal with various parties.

Introducing strategies for positive influence within the community.

Establishing mechanisms for early intervention to resolve disputes and contain conflicts before they escalate.

Enhancing the ability of Mukhtars to comprehend emergency circumstances and de-escalate community tension through peaceful and wise methods.

Future Vision and Project Continuity In a related context, the initiative’s organizers emphasized that this activity is not an isolated event but rather part of a systematic series of training sessions that will cover a wide number of municipalities in the Western Region and other areas.

Through this project, the Sheikh Tahir Al-Zawai Charity Foundation reaffirms its enduring commitment to supporting all efforts that serve the nation and its citizens, contributing to the building of a cohesive and conscious society.
