STACO Holds Workshop on Al-Asabaa Fire Crisis with Gharyan University and the National Defense College

Sheikh Taher Al-Zawi Charitable Foundation Organizes a Scientific Workshop on the Al-Asabaa Municipality Fire Crisis in Cooperation with Gharyan University and the National Defense College
As part of its humanitarian response and its role in supporting affected communities, the Human Resources Development and Training Department of the Sheikh Taher Al-Zawi Charitable Foundation (STACO) organized the second scientific workshop on the Al-Asabaa Municipality fire crisis. The workshop was held in cooperation with the research team at the Faculty of Science – Al-Asabaa, which emerged from the municipality’s crisis committee, and in partnership with the National Defense College – Higher Academy for Strategic Studies.
The workshop was held under the title:
“Analysis of Causes, Consequences, and Response Methods.” It witnessed a significant official and academic attendance, led by the Mayor of Al-Asabaa, Engineer Imad Bashir Al-Maqtouf; the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Dr. Jamal Hassan Al-Daik; the President of the Association of Affected Families; and a select group of researchers, academics, and representatives from the local community.
The workshop began with verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem. Opening remarks highlighted the importance of this event in providing a scientific and strategic understanding of the crisis and developing practical solutions based on national knowledge and experience.
The workshop featured specialized scientific presentations covering the following topics:
– The Geographical Spread of Fires: presented by Dr. Ibrahim Al-Saghir from Zintan University.
– Crisis Management: presented by Dr. Jamal Hams from the National Defense College.
– The Environmental Impacts of Fires: presented by Dr. Jamila Al-Labbad from the Libyan Academy.
– An open discussion panel: participated by a number of experts from the Universities of Tripoli and Gharyan and the Libyan Academy, along with STACO representative Dr. Othman Ali Hams. The panel addressed the psychological, social, and economic aspects of the crisis.
On the sidelines of the workshop, a photo documentary exhibition was held, depicting the extent of the damage to homes. The event concluded with the distribution of school bags and gifts to children, in addition to 16 household fire extinguishers provided by the Sheikh Taher Al-Zawi Charitable Foundation, with generous support from Al-Yaqeen Bank.
In this humanitarian season, STACO affirms its unwavering commitment to enhancing rapid response to crises, raising community awareness, and working together with academic institutions to find sustainable solutions that contribute to human protection and building more resilient societies.
