STACO’s Director of Operations Participates in the International “Mediterranean Dialogues” Conference in Italy

Dr. Shukri Ibrahim, Director of Operations at the Sheikh Taher Azzawi Charitable Foundation (STACO), took part in the MED 2025 – Mediterranean Dialogues international conference, held at the Royal Palace of Naples (Palazzo Reale) from October 15 to 17, 2025.

The event was organized by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in collaboration with the Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI).

The Mediterranean Dialogues conference is one of the leading global platforms dedicated to addressing strategic, political, and social issues affecting the Mediterranean region. It aims to build a shared agenda for regional cooperation, fostering mutual understanding and dialogue among Mediterranean countries in the areas of security, development, energy, environment, migration, culture, and the economy.

Now in its 11th edition, the 2025 conference featured over 50 discussion sessions, bringing together foreign ministers, heads of international organizations, experts, and representatives of academic and humanitarian institutions from across the Mediterranean and beyond. Among the distinguished participants were Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, alongside several European, Arab, and international officials.

In his remarks, Dr. Ibrahim underscored the importance of strengthening joint humanitarian efforts and sharing experiences among relief and development organizations operating in the Mediterranean region. He highlighted that STACO’s participation in such international platforms reflects its commitment to deepening partnerships with international actors and expanding cooperation in humanitarian, educational, and development programs that serve people across the region.

He further noted that STACO’s presence at this global forum aligns with the foundation’s vision of empowering individuals and building more stable and just communities, through initiatives that promote intercultural dialogue and support sustainable development efforts in line with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The conference also offered STACO a valuable opportunity to strengthen its relationships with regional and international organizations, and to explore new avenues of cooperation in the fields of relief, education, youth empowerment, and community development, thereby contributing to greater human and social stability across the Mediterranean.

It is worth noting that the Mediterranean Dialogues have been held annually since 2015, serving as a prominent forum that bridges policy, diplomacy, and thought leadership. This year’s edition was particularly special, being hosted for the first time in Naples, coinciding with the city’s celebration of its 2,500th anniversary.
