At the kind invitation of the Vice President of Economic and Social Affairs
of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in charge of the 2023 Humanitarian Affairs Sector (HAS) and the Vice-President of the Economic and Social Council in charge of the 2023 Operational Activities of the Development Sector (OAS).
The Vice-President of the Economic and Social Council responsible for the humanitarian affairs sector, Ambassador Maurizio Massari, Permanent Representative of Italy to the United Nations.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sheikh Al-Taher Al-Zawi Foundation for Relief and Humanitarian Work, Eng. Salem Al-Qammoudi, participated in the Economic and Social Council meeting on relief and development in Geneva – Switzerland.
To participate in the conversation about confronting, addressing and protecting against the unprecedented global challenge of food insecurity and adapting and innovating the humanitarian response in emergency situations, especially the disproportionate impact on women and children as a vulnerable group.
The meeting’s discussion panels focused on the humanitarian context, the goal of moving from relief to development, in the presence of representatives of countries and delegates around the world.
The 2023 World Meeting is a crucial opportunity to evaluate the challenges facing the humanitarian system and discuss practical steps to deliver better results.
As decided by the Economic and Social Council on 5 April 2023, the theme of this year’s HAS is “Strengthening humanitarian assistance in times of global humanitarian need”.
It is worth noting that the Sheikh Al-Taher Al-Zawi Foundation for Relief and Humanitarian Works #STACO has consultative status with the United Nations (ECOSOC).
