Mr. Salem Abdul Salam Ramadan Elected to the Board of Directors of the Union of NGOs of the Islamic World

At the conclusion of the tenth Ordinary and Electoral General Assembly meeting of the Union of NGOs of the Islamic World (UNIW), held in Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye, it was officially announced that Mr. Salem Abdul Salam Ramadan, Chairman of the Board of Sheikh Tahir Al-Zawi Charitable Foundation, has been elected as a member of the Union’s Board of Directors, representing the State of Libya and the Foundation.
The election followed a formal electoral process conducted during the meeting, which was attended by leaders and representatives of a wide range of non-governmental organizations from across the Islamic world. This outcome reflects the confidence placed in Mr. Ramadan’s administrative competence and institutional experience, as well as recognition of the growing role played by the Sheikh Tahir Al-Zawi Charitable Foundation in the fields of community development and civil society work.
Pursuant to this election, and within the new term of the Union’s Board of Directors, and in accordance with the Union’s statutes reaffirmed during the tenth General Assembly, Mr. Salem Ramadan will assume a number of key strategic responsibilities, most notably:
Contributing to the Union’s strategic direction, participating in the formulation of public policies and action plans for the coming period, and overseeing the implementation of the General Assembly’s resolutions.
Enhancing regional coordination and representation, particularly within the North Africa region, in order to strengthen cooperation and integrate initiatives among civil society organizations in addressing shared challenges.
Activating roles related to mediation and social cohesion, through supporting humanitarian diplomacy initiatives and promoting social stability, in line with the Union’s mission and objectives.
The Union of NGOs of the Islamic World (UNIW), headquartered in Istanbul, is one of the largest umbrella organizations for non-governmental organizations in the Islamic world. Through its elected bodies, the Union works to strengthen coordination and integration among its members, support development initiatives, promote social peace, and enhance cross-border partnerships.
