STACO Chairman Meets with the Grand Mufti of the Tunisian Republic

As part of his official tour to Tunisia, Engineer Salem Al-Qamoudi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sheikh Taher Zaoui Charitable Foundation, met with His Eminence Sheikh Hisham Muhammad Al-Mukhtar bin Mahmoud, Grand Mufti of the Tunisian Republic, at the Dar Al-Iftaa headquarters in Tunis, to discuss prospects for academic and scientific cooperation.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Board of Directors emphasized the pivotal role played by religious and scholarly institutions in guiding charitable work toward its noble goals, noting that the Sheikh Taher Zaoui Foundation continually seeks to expand its scientific and academic partnerships at the regional and international levels.

For his part, His Eminence the Grand Mufti welcomed the visit, commending the Foundation’s efforts in the fields of relief, development, and knowledge. He emphasized the importance of coordination between jurisprudential and charitable bodies to promote religious values in community work and achieve sustainable development with a spirit of responsibility and solidarity.
Mufti Hisham Muhammad al-Mukhtar bin Mahmoud has been the Grand Mufti of the Tunisian Republic since December 2022. He comes from a distinguished scholarly family; his father and grandfather were prominent Tunisian scholars. He was educated at the University of Ez-Zitouna, where he earned a doctorate in Islamic jurisprudence. He has held prominent academic and religious positions, including imam and preacher of the University of Ez-Zitouna and a member of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy.
