STACO Participates in the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha
The Sheikh Al-Taher Al-Zawi Charitable Foundation (STACO) took part in the Second World Summit for Social Development, held at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) in Doha, Qatar, from November 4 to 6, 2025.
The Foundation was represented by Mr. Salem Ramadan, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Mr. Mohamed Eshkal, Director of External Relations. Their participation came as part of STACO’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the role of Libyan civil society organizations in international platforms focused on human and social development.

A Global Gathering to Renew Commitment to Social Development:
Thirty years after the first World Summit for Social Development in Copenhagen in 1995, the Doha Summit brought together an exceptional assembly of world leaders, including around 40 heads of state or government, 170 ministerial representatives, and senior officials from international organizations, civil society, academia, and the private sector—totaling nearly 14,000 delegates.
Presided over by His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, the summit renewed the global commitment to advancing social development and building more inclusive, equitable, and resilient societies.
Key Themes and the Doha Declaration:
The summit centered on three core pillars:
- Eradicating poverty and accelerating action to end extreme deprivation.
- Promoting full employment and decent work for all.
- Advancing social inclusion, equity, and justice.
At the conclusion of the summit, global leaders unanimously adopted the Doha Declaration, reaffirming their commitment to the principles of the 1995 Copenhagen Declaration and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The declaration emphasized the urgent need to shift from commitment to implementation, through effective multi-stakeholder partnerships that place people at the heart of development.

STACO’s Role and Humanitarian Diplomacy:
STACO’s participation underscored the vital role of civil society organizations in supporting humanitarian diplomacy and fostering international cooperation in areas such as social justice and sustainable development.
Representatives of the Foundation expressed their appreciation to the State of Qatar for hosting this global event and highlighted the importance of translating the summit’s outcomes into practical initiatives that strengthen social cohesion, human dignity, and collective progress.
