The Sheikh Taher Al-Zawi Foundation extends its sincere condolences and sympathy on the death of the son of the Sheikh of Martyrs Omar Al-Mukhtar, who passed away this evening, Thursday, at the age of 97, after leaving the city of Benghazi for treatment abroad.
Muhammad Omar Al-Mukhtar is considered the only son of the Sheikh of the Martyrs, and he hails from the Manfa tribe, which lives in Cyrenaica, eastern Libya.
The Italians had colonized Libya in 1911, and executed the leader of the Libyan Mujahideen Omar Al-Mukhtar on September 16, 1931 AD after he was arrested during armed confrontations in the outskirts of the city of Al-Bayda in the east of the country and a mock trial was held against him, and the Libyans were able to obtain independence for their country in December 1951 AD.
