At the beginning of the celebration, the head of the authority gave a speech in which he welcomed the attendees, pointing to the status and importance of poetry among the Arabs, and stressed the importance of launching this initiative by the Sheikh Taher Al-Zawi Charitable Foundation. Onis indicated that the General Authority for Culture will provide all support and assistance to make this cultural event a success And that the authority welcomes cooperation with civil society institutions and the establishment of bridges with all creators and intellectuals from the sons of the country.
At the conclusion of his speech, Onis announced the intention of the General Authority for Culture to hold a big celebration on the occasion of World Poetry Day on March 21, and that the authority would soon issue a collection of poetry collections for Libyan poets.
